Linen Clothing Care

How to care for your linen garments?

Linen is one of the oldest, most cherished textiles in the world — made from resilient flax fibres and beloved for its breathability, softness, and timeless elegance. Whether it’s a flowing summer dress or a versatile shirt, linen brings effortless style with a light environmental footprint.

Despite its natural charm, linen is often misunderstood as high-maintenance. In truth, it’s incredibly easy to care for — no dry cleaner required. These fibres have stood the test of time long before synthetic detergents and tumble dryers. All they need is a little thoughtful care.

Our Linen Care Guide

✦ Wash sparingly
Linen doesn't need frequent washing. If it’s not stained or soiled, simply air your garment. Lay it flat in a shaded, well-ventilated space for a day or two.

✦ Spot clean gently
For small marks, use cool water and a natural soap such as Sunlight. Dab gently — no scrubbing or twisting.

✦ Machine wash with care
When washing is needed, use a cold, gentle cycle with like colours and a mild, earth-friendly detergent. We recommend using a delicates bag to preserve the fabric.

✦ Knitwear and cashmere
For more delicate items like knits and cashmere, we suggest cold hand washing with a wool-specific detergent. Swirl gently — never wring or twist. Always dry flat in the shade to avoid stretching.

✦ Skip the tumble dryer
Heat can damage linen’s natural structure. Instead, dry flat or hang in a shaded area with care. Avoid direct sun exposure for long periods.

✦ Steam or lightly press
We love using a handheld steamer to remove creases and bring the fabric back to life. If you prefer an iron, use a low temperature and press gently while the garment is still slightly damp.

✦ Eco-friendly dry cleaning
For special pieces, a trusted eco dry cleaner is always an option. Just ensure they use non-toxic, fibre-safe cleaning methods.
